Animal Breeders

[mood |calmcalm]

Well I just joined LJ and have been looking through some communities but this one really caught my attention. Im interested in breeding boxers, I own 2 already that are not breeding quality they are just wonderful family pets. Just trying to read as much as I can on the health testing and other breeding info. And also very interested in meeting people who breed boxers or other breeds of dogs, i do believe that you should breed to better the breed not to make it worse so that is one of my goals. I love the breed and I dont think I will ever own another breed, I been trying to find a good reputable breeder to purchase my first breeding female and maybe buying one this september. So anyone who has any advice, I will love to see your comments thanks.

hi! well let me the first to warn you before you take the plunge that with this economy puppies are getting increasing harder to place into loving homes. I came out even on my last litter (Parson Russell Terriers) but it was harder than ever. I probably wont breed for another couple of years.

As for finding a really good breeder, I would look up local AKC conformation shows and go look at the boxer ring. They can vary alot so you will have to decide what you want in your dogs. Talk to the handlers about health issues, normally the handlers will be very up front with you. Are you going to show the bitch before you breed her?
